WESTERN AUSTRALIAN WOMEN OF THE LAND.

Historically, women working in agriculture in Australia have been silenced and marginalised, labelled purely as ‘domestics,’ ‘silent partners,’ or just ‘farmer’s wives,’ with their work, efforts and contribution on the farm misrepresented, undervalued and dismissed. This project is an exploration of women working within the sphere of broad-acre agriculture in Western Australia, challenging the almost exclusively male visual representations of farming, redefining the identity of the Australian farmer, and producing an authentic account of women working on the land.
